Chatham High Street Reopens!

After a long period of closure, non-essential shops finally opened their doors again on Monday 15th June, with over 120 shops open. Thanks to Medway Council who are supporting the High Street by:
  • Enhanced cleaning of the High Street
  • Having Medway Greeters on hand to help
  • Ringo contactless car parking payments, and cleaning of payment machines
  • Litter picking and regular emptying of bins
To help you stay safe whilst shopping, please remember to:
  • Socially distance and stay 2m apart. Some shops will have floor markings to help and limit numbers in store
  • Clean and sanitise your hands
  • Pay contactless if you can, up to £45
  • Avoid touching products if you don’t intend to purchase
  • Stay home if you have any COVID-19 symptoms

Love Chatham Celebrates event on 20th June postponed

Dear Love Chatham supporters, It is with great regret that we have had to put ‘on hold’ the birthday celebrations for Thomas Waghorn which were planned in Chatham High Street on Saturday June 20th. Medway Council have decided to cancel all major events until the end of June and they were our main supporters in closing the roads and providing other facilities on the day. Therefore we have had to follow their lead – and we agree with the need to protect the health of everyone in Medway. However, all it not lost! We were surprised, amazed and delighted by the response you have all shown in backing our plans. So we will be back later in the year when we aim to revive the celebrations. It will still be Thomas Waghorn’s birthday on June 20th but it doesn’t mean we can’t honour his birth date on another occasion. Once again thank you for your support, but we will be back in touch. In the meantime, please follow the government health advice and keep safe. Regards, John Brice & the Love Chatham Team
